These common characteristics show, in addition, two particularly important facts: on the one hand, they reveal the wide range of the African musical influence, and on the other hand they show its versatile but expansive potential. The African musical influence has left its mark on much of the New World, from the Caribbean to the Eastern states of the United States in terms of the North, and Brazil and Venezuela to Peru, in terms of the South. More extraordinarily, these various themes still seem to have a strong influence, almost dominance during their mixing with other musical themes.
